Fantasy Football 2008 Looks like the Gamers “Highest Scoring Team” curse is right up there with the Cubs and the Red Sox. Case n point WoWW having scored a league high 409 points in 6 weeks is 3-3 in a divisional dog fight, while the Storm, having scored nearly 40 points less than the Maulers alone, lead the West by a game. Also, strange enough, after starting 3-0 I haven’t won a game since I put Direct TV in, which begs the question: Is it better to win and not watch, or to see yourself lose on every channel? Anyhow on with the picks. Sharks (3-3) Storm (4-2) After a fairly uneventful start, The Sharks became somewhat of a league hero last week by kicking The Magic’s sizable ass as they drew into a tie for The South Division lead. Please, lets all pause now and had out a well deserved round of applause……………......Ok. I’m not sure what to say about The Storm except for fate seems to smile on the oblivious. Every week when the chips are down some one on this team steps up and wins it at the last second, 4 horse men or not - People on bye week or not. -Players still in the NFL or not. This week without Faulk OR Harrison, there’s no way The Storm should win this game, but the way their season is going, there’s also no way I’d pick against them either. Storm 59 Sharks 53 Lightning (3-3) vs. Cougars (3-3) Posting 3 wins in a row the Lightning are climbing their way back into the divisional hunt. This week they face The Cougars who have a bit of a win streak going of their own, including completely dominating performance against The Maulers in week 6. A win Coach Lynn I am sure is still relishing. The Lightning has been led by the scoring of Green and Holt while Gannon has been a major disappointment keeping Mike Vicks seat warm. The Cougars have been sparked by the play of Trent Green and Stephen Davis with David Boston occasionally showing up for a game. This game should come down to QB and oddly enough Gannon and Green face each other on Monday night (Mmmmmm.. Lisa Guerrero) I’d say both these owners will be in for a late night with the edge going to Trent Green and The Cougars. Cougars 70 Lightning 65 Crushers (2-4) vs. Nukers (1-5) The Nukers have had 412 points scored against them this year. That’s 68.6/week for those who are counting at home. The next closest at 393 points would be The Crushers. Those sorts of numbers just rarely translate into wins. Just to put it in perspective, The Magic have 150 points LESS scored against them this year and the league average is about 58 points per week. Brutal. Anyhow, with Hines ward on bye, Duce in a diminishing role and T.O in some sort of hissy fit, I’ll take The Nukers in this one. Nukers 55 Crushers 45 Onslaught (3-3) vs. Magic (5-1) The magic suck! Go Slugs!!! Go Slugs!!! S-L-U-G-S – SLUGS! SLUGS! SLUGS! Slugs 125 Magic 2 -=Upset Special=- Knights (1-5) vs. Maulers (3-3) Man.. WTF happened to The Knights? With L.T. alone you would think 3-3 at this point but 1-5 and the lowest point total in the league? Never saw that one coming. The Maulers are in a bit of a mess themselves. Having a 3-0 start they have dropped 3 straight and lost control of their division. Injury plagued again this week the Col. has had to solicit the help for Terry Glenn… That can’t bode well. I’ll take The Knights in an upset with LT getting back on track in the dog pound. Knights 65 Maulers 60 -=Game of the Week=- WoWW (3-3) vs. Panthers (5-1) #1 in scoring vs. #2 in scoring - This ought to be good. The Panthers being 5 and 1 is phenomenal considering it’s…well, The Panthers. Coach Sauerkraut has his Fun and Gun offence on a pace to shatter this teams all time season win mark (7), points mark and cruise to a division title. Obviously it is not over yet, but I just thought it was appropriate to point that out before their inevitable mid season crash. This week they face a WoWW team that has dropped 3 straight, that has injury and bye week problems at WR, and who’s studs seem to sit more games than they play. There was a time where WoWW would march in to the Penisville Stadium and win this game hands down, but it seems not in 2003. The winds of fate seem to have changed direction and it smells like manure. That can only mean fate favors The Panthers this week. Panther 80 WoWW 75 |
