Fantasy Football 2008 This may be the most competitive year we have ever had. 2 weeks left and literally the only thing decided is The Knights are the first seed in the Sauer Memorial. Considering the first three weeks of the season that pretty surprising.
Observations: - The Sharks are leading the league in scoring for the first time ever. They have a franchise record won 6 straight and are on pace to break their all time in season win record of 8. - The two leading scoring teams are in the same division. Proving once again that all other divisions besides The South suck. - After last weeks stellar coaching performance by Col. Piro, The Worst. err... West has a distinct possibility to send a team with a losing record to the champs bowl. Keep up the good work West, we're pulling for you! - The Storms 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse are playing more like the 4 Old Men at the Apothecary. - Who on draft day thought Ahman Green, Priest Holmes and Jamal Lewis would be the top 3 backs at this point of the season? - Knights over The Storm or Crusher over the Maulers. Which one was the bigger upset?
On to the picks...
WoWW (5-5) vs. Maulers (5-5) WoWW is 2 games back with 3 to go - They need this. The Maulers are a 1 game up - They need this. Both teams are cut from the same cloth (although Col. Piro admittedly requires significantly more cloth), marked by a solid running game complimented by more than adequate aerial attacks. Definitely the makings of a slobber-knocker that will come down to 3 things; health, match-ups and coaching. The match ups for both teams are solid across the board. However, Shockey's out 3-4 weeks and after last week coaching fiasco in Minoa, the coaching on that end of the isle is suspect. Take WoWW in a close one. WoWW 85 Maulers 83 Cougars (4-6) vs. Knights (2-8) The pussy cats of The East meet a rejuvenated Knights team gearing up for a run at The Sauer Memorial Title. I'd like to hype this up but The Knights didn't get to be 2-8 on luck. I'll take The Kittens. Cougars 55 Knights 45
Nukers (2-8) vs. Lightning (6-4) The Lightning finally played up to their potential last week snapping their 6 game winning streak. Although the records don't indicate it, these teams have scored virtually the same amount of points this year, but The Nukers have given up almost 180 more points. besides poor defense there are a couple of other things working against The Nukers this week. With Saint Louis playing Chicago, if Bulger has a good day A-Train will be taken out of the mix, also The Lightning's Torry Holt's production will increase proportionately. Since that scenario is pretty likely that's bad news for The Nukers. Lightning 55 Nukers 45
Magic (7-3) vs. Storm (4-6) I have been shouting for years that the reason for the success of The Magic is Owner Quinn is Satan's boy toy. Proof was shown last week as The Magic season point tally ended at 666. As a reward Satan tweaked the hammy of Marvelous Marvin Harrison. Magic 75 Storm 50
-=Upset Special=- Crushers (4-6) vs. Panthers (8-2) The Crushers dominated the West leading Maulers and look to continue against the East leading Panthers, who were utterly destroyed by the Sharks in week 10. History says 9 times out of 10 The Panthers are going to win this game. The match-ups say The Crusher have a pretty good shot @ a huge upset. Crushers 60 Panthers 55
-=Game of the Week=-
Sharks (7-3) vs. Onslaught (6-4) If the Sharks win this game, pencil them in for The Champs Bowl. (Now THERE'S a sentence I never thought I'd write). Coach Steinbrenner of The Sharks has adopted a win at all costs approach to 2003, which has yielded a significant improvement over a typical Sharks year. Will it be enough to go from worst to first? The OnSlugs may have something to say about that. After winning The East in 2002, The Slugs need to win here just to hold pace with The Panthers. (Another sentence I thought I would never write... Keeping pace with The Panthers typically would reference the "L" column). Both teams have played well over the last few weeks, particularly The Sharks who have scored 98-88 and 118 in the last three contests. Both teams QB's should have monster days, but The Sharks top ranked rushing attack has nasty match ups with Tampa and Buffalo, while the rushers for The Slugs get to feast on Oakland and Atlanta. Combine that with a tremendous edge at TE, and you have to like The OnSluts this week. Onslaught 95 Sharks 88
Joke of the week. Col. Piro's so fat, he gets clothes in three sizes: extra large, jumbo, and oh-my-god-it's-coming-towards-us. |
