Week One is in the bag and with it several surprises. None more surprising than the top 5 scoring QB's last week; Kelly Holcomb, Shane Mathews, Tom Brady, Michael Vick and Kerry Collins. Unless you factor in that Quincy Morgan out scored Moss, Harrison, Holt and Bruce…. Combined. So much for prognostication. Anyhow… On with the picks.

Onslaught (0-1) vs. Panthers (1-0)
Well, well, The Panthers got themselves a Week One win. I suppose that proves the "Even a blind squirrel can find a nut" theory. But 2 in a row? Doubt it. It seems The Bus may have finally run out of gas, and Jamal Lewis looks more like Jerry Lewis. The Onslugs… err… Onslaughts on the other hand seem to be on the rise, if not unbalance. McNair, McAlister and Gonzalez combine for over 60% of this teams week 1 scoring That stat will have to improve for this team to get on a winning track. This week I think it will. Take the Onsluts… err.. Onslaught and the points.

Onslaught 75 Panthers 64.

Storm (1-0) vs. Cougars (1-0)
The Storms 4 horsemen picked up right where they left off last year, contributing to a league high score of 84 points in Week One and I see no reason to doubt that they will do it again week 2. The Cougars should put up a fight, but not much of one.

Storm 90 Cougars 70

Crushers (1-0) vs. WoWW (1-0)
The Crushers came out firing Week One and simply decimated The Maulers, in a huge upset. It good to see that this team has no intentions of being a doormat in 2002 and are back on the winning track. However, Charlie Gardner has about as much chance of scoring 30 points in a week again, as The Col. does at fitting into his old size 12 dress.

WoWW 75 Crushers 65

Magic (1-0) vs. Lightning (0-1)
Looks like the Magic are back to their old tricks, making Curtis Martin AND Cory Dillon disappear Week One to get a huge win over The Knights. Who will they make disappear on the Lightings roster this week? Gannon? Holt? Perhaps the entire Packers Defense?

Magic 75 Lightning 60

Nukers (0-1) vs. Maulers (0-1)
Fresh off a week 1 kick in the ball (Yes singular. Ball. Or didn't you know that about the Col.?), Col. Piro will try to regroup the "Big Dogs" for this important interdivisional match up. The loser of which will have a giant divisional hole to crawl out of. After being completely dominated week 1, The Nukers traded in what appears to be their entire roster attempting to shore up holes in the roster. In particular the addition of "Super Sleeper" Shane Mathews may be just what the doctor ordered for this team. The Maulers lose Chamberlain for the week and couple that with the specter of benching over the head of Brian Griese, and I smell an upset.

Nukers 85 Maulers 80

-= Game of the Week =-
Sharks (0-1) vs. Knights (0-1)
The Sharks have assumed their rightful place at the bottom of The South division while The Knights have shown once again that they just can't catch a break in a big game. It may be a little early to start talking about "must win games", but the loser of this one will have a long road ahead of them, if they want to contend. These teams are quite evenly matched top to bottom. Good QB, WR's, TE's even kickers. Even to the point of having one of their top running backs simply not show up last week. I suspect it is more likely that Cory Dillon might remember he is supposed to be a running back this week and Antwain Smith will remember he may have been better suited as a fry cooked.

Knights 80 Sharks 75

I'll be off in Mexico visiting a few Mayan ruins next week so I doubt I'll have the ability to post up a Week 3 version. I have no doubt one of you, or perhaps all, will step up with a special guest star appearance. Also, in a side note, I have partnerd up wth Greg Kellogg of Komments.com We'll be adding a lot of cool stuff when I get back. Let me know what you think.

Good luck to all
~Jim
