Fantasy Football 2008

Welp.. I waited…No submissions. So of course I couldn't just shut up and let the games start. Should be some great games and there plenty at stake so good luck to all. Oh and the way, the winners share will be a tad over 500.00. :)

On to the finals...

Champs Bowl
Crushers (10-3) vs. Onslaught (8-5)
Got to hand it to the Onslaught, led by the legs of Deuce McAllister 2002 has seen the Slugs go from worst to first in their division unfortunately Deuce's legs are a tad sprained at a VERY bad time. The Crushers are another "Worst to First" team who simply dominated their division on the arm of the rejuvenated Bledsoe, who ironically was the Onsluts QB of choice in 2001. This game on paper clearly favors the Crushers who are a combined 10-3 against the slugs overall this year, and have a vengeful Bledsoe play NE this week. However, it's really going to come down to the health of The Onslaughts key players If McNair, Mcallister and Barber get healthy real fast, The Sludge has a shot, if not Crushers will be playing for the title next week. Either way smart money is on the Crushers since teams from the South division rarely, if ever lose to teams for the Least…err EAST division.

Storm (9-4) vs. Magic (8-5)
I see no valid reason to think that the 2 time defending champs, The Magic will win this game. Which means most likely they will. And, true to form it looks like the evil one will make an opponents key player disappear for a big game. The big question is can the mighty Marshal Faulk fend off this fiends curse or will he succumb as Peyton has low these many years. I have advised Owner Quinn of the little know rule, that anyone that does win a championship 3 years in a row, will be drawn and quartered, beheaded, drowned, and THEN burned at the stake. I am sure you will all back me up on that. The Strom are down to only 3 horsemen, and although that may not be enough for an apocalypse, they are still capable of putting up HUGE numbers. Speaking of which, The Strom scored 1062 regular season points…that is a record. Also it is true that the highest scoring team in the league has never won a title. Could the Magic's voodoo and history combine to be enough for a Magic upset? I don't think so. But, one thing's for sure, I love the match ups across the board for both these teams, so look for a real high scoring barn burner of a game.

The Bridesmaids Bowl
Knights (8-5) vs. Panthers (5-8)
5 and 8.. How the hell do you get into the Bridesmaids Bowl with a 5-8 record? Oh, yeah, forgot, The Panthers are in the East division, that explains it. Technically then, this does not qualify as a big game, which means the Knights wont choke. Which in tirn means The Kinght should reptethe shellacking they gave the Panthers week 13.

Knights 85 Panthers 40

Nukers (7-6) vs. WoWW (7-6)
As "Team Bulger", The Nukers spanked WoWW in their in season meeting. Now as The KordeLLLLLLL era seems done in Nukerland, Coach Ryan will be turning the reigns over to rookie David Carr for the playoffs. Carr may be a step up from KordeLLLLLL but they will need significant help from Staley and Bennet to pull of a win this week. (Wouldn't that just make the Magic's eyes water with joy.) WoWW is peeking at the right time playing their best ball of the season. Here's a stat that will gets Rick's goat. (Oh that reminds me. Heard a joke, How does Coach Sauer define "safe sex"? Tag the goats that kick.) WoWW has outscored the Entire North and East division. Quite a testament to the year The Crushers had but also a clear sign that WoWW is still a dangerous team to play. This is definitely a great 1st round match up though. WoWW has the overall edge 7-6 in season head to head match ups, if you can call that an edge. Points are close. Records are tied. There really isn't much separating these teams. Except maybe the lack of Bulger. :)

(Held in South Valley)

Sharks (5-8) vs. Maulers (3-10)
With Ahmann Green out for this weeks game, you really got to think that hurts the Sharks chances against The Maulers this week. Of course The Sharks may fall back on fail safe "start all your scrubs because they are due" theory, but I doubt it. Also working against them is The Maulers, Tom Brady is playing the Bills this week. Last time Brady met the Bills he tossed for 310 yards and 4 TD's. Aberration? Maybe. Shoot out in store for The hapless Maulers. Certainly.

Maulers 65 Jellyfish 55.

Lightning (4-9) vs. Cougars (4-9)
With win last week, The lightning finished the year with as me any wins in 2002 as they had in the previous two years combined. Also with 757 season points they have set a new franchise high. I think congratulations are in order. Also, with the injury to Kevin Barlow, The Lightning's draft day trade for Garrison Hearst is now about to pay off in spades. At this point I will try to ignore the Cougars to attempt to help save them whatever dignity they can from this debacle of a year.

Lightning 60 Kitty Cats 35

Good luck to all
